Jacob Stockdale, whose family appeared in “Wife Swap”, allegedly attempted a major escape from a mental hospital before his murder trial.
Stockdale, who pleaded not guilty to the murders of his mother and brother and is due to be tried next month, has twice failed in his attempts to escape from the institution … according to his treatment team.
In court documents, obtained by TMZ, during a hearing on Stockdale’s jurisdiction to stand trial, the team noted that Stockdale’s first escape attempt occurred in November 2019, when he allegedly tried to hide among the stacks of books in the library from the psychiatric hospital, leaving the team concerned that he was trying to find a way out of the building.
Stockdale reportedly tried to escape again a month later … the team says this time he tried to mix with a group of people who were walking out the door.
Ty Graham, one of Stockdale’s lawyers, tells TMZ … Stockdale has not been charged with attempted escape.

How do you know, Stockdale case it’s horrible … in 2017, he was arrested for shooting and killing his mother, Kathryn, and his younger brother, James. Stockdale then shot himself in the head, but survived and underwent months of reconstructive surgery.

The Stockdale family appeared on the “Wife Swap” show in 2008 … and they are remembered for living for strict rules and being extremely religious.
The Stockdale trial date is set for January 26 and he could face life in prison if convicted.
