A few days ago, a EBay’s listing went up for an alleged OnePlus 9 5G prototype. As expected, this listing was immediately removed, because the listing included identifying information. But a new list was then published without that identifying information, and the prototype was apparently sold for $ 6,000.
We are not surprised that the OnePlus 9 5G is already on the loose. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen the device appear more than once, with live images showing the design. But we are absolutely shocked that the device went on sale – and that someone bought it for $ 6,000. Who would pay such a high price for a device that is not even available? The buyer remains a mystery for now. (Maybe it’s Pete Lau hoping to get the device before it gets into the hands of any YouTubers!)

The first $ 3,000 list was removed from eBay because it contained identifying information, but the same device was apparently sold after a new registration. The list said the device was unlocked and could work on all GSM operators, although it appears that this specific model is being used at T-Mobile.
According to recent reports, the OnePlus 9 5G will have a 6.5-inch flat panel and a dual camera setup. The device should also have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chip, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a 4,500 mAh battery. The device will be released with Android 11 and all the latest improvements in OxygenOS 11.
With a new year approaching, it probably won’t be long before we see the OnePlus 9 5G officially announced. With apparently completed prototypes already available – and in the hands of at least one person – it may be an indication that we will see something early next year, perhaps early spring.
OnePlus launched OnePlus 8 in April this year, so maybe we will see the OnePlus 9 5G out there. However, a recent report said that OnePlus could launch its new flagship sooner than expected in 2021, so maybe we will be a few weeks to see something official. We also expect to see a OnePlus 9 “Lite” model fall, although we don’t know if it will debut with the other devices in the series or if OnePlus is holding it for a separate release.
