Some Richland County offices now open by appointment> Columbia Business Report

Several Richland County offices, closed since last spring because of health problems related to the pandemic, are now open by appointment.

County residents can sign up for personal consultations at the county appraiser and auditor’s office, business services center, stock registration and treasurer’s office, among other services now open at the County Administration Building at 2020 Hampton St.

Registration for online scheduling is available at www.richlandcountysc.gov, as well as a complete list of offices where scheduling is available.

The administration building is accessible via the rear entrance on Harden and Lady Streets, where visitors will check in.

“We recognize that South Carolina is seeing some positive trends in the decline in the positive percent rates associated with COVID-19,” Richland County administrator Leonardo Brown said in a press release. “We want to make sure that, as we seek to allow citizens to have limited access to county facilities, we maintain a certain level of awareness that COVID-19 has not disappeared. We’re just keeping everything under control. “

Meeting to address flood-prone properties

Richland County residents in the Timberlane Drive area will be able to ask questions about flooded properties during a Zoom meeting on Thursday.

Area residents responded to a survey in February looking for the best uses for vacant properties damaged in the October 2015 flood. The Richland County community planning and development team will answer questions about this survey in an online meeting from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Access the meeting at https://zoom.us/j/94616512526. Use the meeting ID: 946 1651 2526.

Many homes in the area are considered to be at risk of flooding due to the proximity of Gills Creek, according to a press release. The municipality bought dozens of affected properties with the aim of returning the land to its natural state.

Property options include trails, parks, naturalized area, parking and stormwater design.

The results of the survey will be discussed during an April 14 meeting.

Questions can be directed to Meghan Sullivan County Sustainability Planner at sullivan.meghan @richlandcountysc.gov.
