Some post offices will close earlier due to ‘possible civil event’

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – The United States postal service announced on Friday that it is taking precautions before possible civil events.

The USPS said that post offices in Denver and Colorado Springs would cut hours on Saturday.

In Colorado Springs, the post office at 201 E. Pikes Peak Ave. was scheduled to open from 8 am to noon on Saturday. The lobby will be open from 6 am to noon.

The USPS also said that several blue collection boxes will be removed. The postal service said all collection boxes would be replaced after the potential threat ended. According to a list sent by the USPS, 22 collection boxes will be removed in Colorado Springs, mainly downtown.

The post office says that these are temporary measures to protect the post office, employees and the community.
