SANTO ANTÓNIO – Bexar County health officials announced on Monday that anyone scheduled to receive the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination at the Alamodome from Tuesday to Thursday this week will be rescheduled because of a delay in sending the Department of Texas State Health.
All second dose vaccinations scheduled at Alamodome will be rescheduled for the following dates at the same appointment time:
-
2 February appointments are rescheduled to 16 February
-
3 February appointments rescheduled to 17 February
-
February 4th appointments are rescheduled to February 18th
Individuals who will receive the second dose of the vaccine from Tuesday to Thursday this week will receive further instructions through the email or phone provided in the registration. Consultations for the second dose scheduled for Monday and Friday this week are not affected by the delay.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the doses that have been assigned to us by the state have not arrived at this time,” said Dr. Anita Kurian, assistant director of Communicable Diseases at Metro Health. “We understand that some may be concerned about the prolonged time between the second dose, but we are within the guidelines of the CDC to ensure that the vaccine still works without problems. The Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines can be scheduled for administration within 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose. “

Metro Health is scheduling appointments about a week before their current state quota, in the hope that they will receive the vaccines they have requested. Anyone who received the first dose automatically has a second dose reserved for them.
When appointments are available at Alamodome, you can apply for the vaccine online. Online registration is preferable, but if you need help, you can call 311 and select option 8. Residents reported that it can be difficult to contact someone over the phone.
