Another app does away with older Apple TVs.

Last week, Google confirmed that the YouTube app will no longer be compatible with third generation Apple TVs starting in early March. Now, it looks like CBS All Access will also lose support for Apple’s older converter box, according to a message displayed to third generation Apple TV users and reported by MacRumors. The change will occur at the same time that CBS All Access is restarted as Paramount +.

Paramount + will be available on the iPhone, iPad and the latest Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD boxes on March 4. The message obtained by MacRumors states that, at that moment, users will be able to transmit Paramount + content from an iOS device to their third generation Apple TV device or connected AirPlay 2 screen – as will be the case with YouTube when the service disappears from the device next month . But it doesn’t look like the new service will be natively supported on the old Apple TV.

We have contacted ViacomCBS representatives for more information about loss of support and will update this post if we receive a response.

When asked to comment on the change last week, a Google spokesman told Gizmodo in a statement that the company is “always working to ensure that our users have the best experience on YouTube and, from time to time, we need to do changes to our compatible List devices. “

Losing support for a small number of apps is not a big reason to rush to buy a new device – unless you really, really does not support the transmission process of your mobile device. If so, I respectfully suggest replacing your Apple TV with Chromecast with Google TV? I recently made the change and highly recommend it.
