Even when Microsoft minimized the risk associated with this discovery, it is further evidence of how far the attack has come. Because SolarWinds’ network security software is widely used, the group behind the hack was able to access an unprecedented amount of confidential data from government agencies and large corporations. Government officials said Russia is responsible, although investigators are still discovering the full extent of the hack.
