‘Soho Karen’ was ‘belligerent’ during DUI arrest in California

The 22-year-old woman nicknamed “Soho Karen” because of her confrontation with a black teenager in a Manhattan hotel was “downright belligerent” when police in California arrested her for DUI, according to a new report.

Miya Ponsetto reportedly admitted to police in Los Angeles in May that she had taken Xanax and drunk wine before being stopped for driving irregularly, TMZ reported on Monday.

According to the newly released details of the prison, Ponsetto refused a field sobriety test, then became angry with the police when they tried to handcuff her.

She had a fit of anger, according to TMZ, who reported that Ponsetto started “kicking the ground, hitting the body and even hitting the head with the ground”.

She was accused of drunk driving and later did not contest the case, agreeing to three hours probation, 30 hours of community service and participating in a nine-month alcohol and drug counseling program, the vehicle said.

Ponsetto and his mother were also charged with public intoxication and assault after triggering a riot at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills on February 28, according to a police report on the incident.

But it was only on December 26 that Ponsetto’s name went viral, after she falsely accused a black teenager of stealing her iPhone at a hotel in Soho.

Keyon Harrold Jr., 14, was with his father, a jazz trumpeter of the same name, at the Alro Hotel when Ponsetto is seen in a viral video addressing the teenager.

The incident prompted Manhattan prosecutors to indict Ponsetto, who is hiding in California.
