Social media reacts to James Cook’s strong first half, Georgia football against South Carolina

For the first half against South Carolina, Georgia’s attack looked like a lot of fun. Thanks to the attack, Georgia has a 28-10 advantage over Gamecocks.

The Bulldogs scored in their first three possessions in the first half to reach a 21-0 lead. The first race was crowned by a touchdown by Tre ‘McKitty, while the next two were rushed to touchdowns by James Cook and Zamir White.

A week after running for just eight yards against the state of Mississippi, the Bulldogs ran for 208 yards in the first half. Cook led with 98 yards, the longest in his career. He added a second touchdown for the Georgia quarter in the first half.

Quarterback JT Daniels, meanwhile, made another efficient effort for the Bulldogs, launching for 87 yards and a touchdown. Daniels’ last pass in the middle was intercepted.

The 28 points are the maximum that Georgia scored in the first half of this season. Georgia scored in four of their six first-half games on Saturday.

Many on social media also commented on the performance of South Carolina interim coach Mike Bobo. He was a long-time offensive coordinator in Georgia, as well as playing as a defender on the team.

After going goalless in the first quarter, Bobo’s team scored 10 points in the second quarter while led by quarterback Luke Doty in his first career start.

The other big story from the first half was the future around Georgia quarterback D’Wan Mathis. The Georgia quarterback did not travel with the team to South Carolina and according to a report by Jake Rowe of 247Sports, Mathis must enter the transfer portal.

Mathis started the season opener for Georgia against Arkansas and came in relief for Stetson Bennett in the Florida loss. After Daniels’ strong start, this is no surprise.

The second half of the game can be viewed on the SEC Network.
