WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Jake Dunne says it is a new year beginning with snow. Expect heavy snow, sometimes heavy until 9 am, followed by lighter snow until noon. Total accumulation of 3-6 ″ is anticipated in the Wichita area with the highest totals along and immediately east of the highway.
A strong gust of north wind, better than 40 km / h, is blowing / driving snow and reducing visibility. The journey is slow and difficult on the roads in the area and will remain so until noon, before we see a slow improvement this afternoon.
Wake-up temperatures in your 20s look like single digits and teenagers when you take into account the already mentioned strong breeze. Not much movement is expected on the thermometer today, as temperatures peak between 30 and 30 degrees.
Some gusts are possible in the late evening and Saturday morning, as the weaker system moves across the state. Otherwise, the weather pattern promises to calm down and warm up as we head into the next week.
