Snow moves on Saturday night – WISH-TV | Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather

INDIANÁPOLIS (DESIRE) – A complex system bringing rain and snow to the area is expected to bring significant build-up to parts of Indiana by Sunday afternoon.

Saturday:

Cloudy conditions most of the day, as a large system opens the way to the Midwest. Wait for the onset of precipitation to start as late as a rain / snow mix.

The treble reaches 30 years.

Saturday night:

The rain / snow mix will quickly change to heavy snow along and north of the I-74 corridor. Expect several hours of constant snowfall in the northern half of the state. In the middle of the night, some areas around the subway and points to the south are likely to see a transition to a rain / snow mix, or even total rain. To the north, snowfalls will continue.

A winter storm alert will be in effect for much of the northern half of the state from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon. A winter climate alert is in effect for much of the metropolitan area and parts of the southeastern state.

In the alert area, 4 ″ -6 ″ of snow can be expected, with even greater amounts possible in the north, including northwest Indiana, South Bend and Fort Wayne, where between 6 ″ -10 ″ of snow will be possible.

Domigo:

Snowfall is expected to remain steady on Sunday morning in northern Indiana, while inland, most of the area will start the day with rain or a rain / snow mix. Eventually, the cooler air plunges and changes everything back to snow in the late morning / early afternoon. Additional light accumulation is expected throughout the day.

The treble reaches 30 years.

8-day forecast:

Scattered snow showers continue on Monday, with little expected accumulation. Tuesdays and Wednesdays remain calm and seasonal. The next system of interest arrives from Thursday to Friday, bringing rain showers first, followed by another rain show and snow showers to end the work week.
