Snow day? Announcement of the closure of schools in the DC area; Online learning to continue for some – NBC4 Washington

Just because the school is virtual does not mean that there are no snowy days.

Several school districts canceled classes on Monday and declared snowy days, while others will continue virtual learning as planned.

DC’s public schools will be completely virtual, without a snowy day. Virtual learning will also continue in Prince George County, with layoffs two hours early.

The schools of Anne Arundel, Culpeper, Falls Church City, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William County and Spotsylvania will be closed on Monday and all virtual classes will be canceled.

Fairfax County Public Schools students will not have a snowy day; e-learning will continue as planned on Monday, the district announced. All extracurricular activities and scheduling for face-to-face assessments are canceled, as well as high school after-school programs, professional learning and training courses.

Montgomery County Public Schools will open and virtual instruction will continue, officials announced. MCPS will continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide an update at 5am on Monday.

Calvert County schools will follow normal and virtual schedules. Internet cafes, however, will be closed. The virtual instruction will continue as scheduled in Howard County. Night activities and community programs in school buildings are canceled.

In St. Mary County, classes will start two hours late.

School buildings in Arlington and Stafford County will be closed and teachers will work remotely. The students already had time off for a day of team development.

Public schools in the city of Manassas will be closed on Monday. Schools in Page County will also be closed and Bowie State University will teach virtually.

Teachers enter school buildings while students stay at home in some districts, and many roads are slippery.
