Snow blowers remembered in the midst of winter storms due to the risk of amputation

A popular snow blower is being called a recall because of a security risk, as strong winter storms are blowing across much of the U.S.

Toro is recalling 6,700 snow blowers because a defective auger may not disengage when the lever is released, representing an amputation risk, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

No injuries were reported, said the CPSC. But five cases of failure have been reported to Toro.

The Toro recall involves the 2021 model year of the Toro Power Max 826 OHAE Snowthrowers because of an amputation risk.
