SNL mocks social media, GameStop taking Wall Street, vaccine launch and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

The first episode of Saturday Night Live in 2021 featured special ‘appearances’ by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Mark Zuckerberg and Tom Brady – but Donald Trump of Alec Baldwin was notably absent at the opening of the show.

Kate McKinnon sat down with QAnon supporter, a GameStop employee, Facebook and Twitter social media giants, OJ Simpson and Tampa Bay Buccaneer quarterback while trying to determine ‘What still works?’ in 2021.

John Krasinki was the host of the first SNL in 2021 and answered many questions from the public, asking him to repeat his role as Jim of The Office.

– First of all, I believe that the shooting in Parkland was a scam. The teachers were actors and the children were dolls, ”Greene said in the satire. ‘I believe 9/11 was a scam, someone really saw it happen. I also told my supporters that they should physically kill Nancy Pelosi, she is the lady I work with now.

Greene then shared the most recent theory he believed in. “I think the forest fire in California was started by Jewish space lasers.

The political controversy then took advantage of his new role on the House’s Education and Work Committee, prompting McKinnon to declare that the government was still broken.

McKinnon’s next guest was Pete Davidson as Derrick ‘Boner’ Evans, GameStop’s new majority shareholder.

Although the wealthy new investor expressed his enthusiasm for his luck on Wall Street, it soon became clear that Derrick was not well versed in the real stock market.

Asking the growing stock owner who most invested in GameStop, Derrick emphatically declared rapper ‘Ja Rule.’ Clearly, the stock market was designated as no longer functioning by McKinnon.

Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook and Jack Dorsey from Twitter were the next guests, with Zuckerberg exclaiming that the platform was still working because ‘it not only helps people form online communities, but helps people find and connect in real life’.

‘For example, on the Capitol,’ added Zuckerberg – played by Alef Moffat.

When Dorsey, played by Mikey Day, asked if her chin beard was working for the host, McKinnon said he was helping her to remain a ‘lesbian’. Social media was quickly declared to be malfunctioning.

McKinnon then proceeded to launch the vaccine, bringing Kenan Thompson as OJ Simpson – sporting an ankle monitor. The controversial soccer player recently made headlines after receiving the vaccine.

McKinnon noted that OJ was able to get the vaccine along with three percent of Americans, but teachers and people with long-standing health problems have not yet been able to. The vaccine was labeled as not working, obviously.

Trump’s friend and Buccaneer coach Tom Brady was the last guest to appear on the brief show. Played by Krasinki, Brady was praised for taking ‘one of the worst football franchises’ to the SuperBowl for the tenth time at 43.

But even though he still worked by McKinnon’s standards, Brady noticed that almost “no one” was rooting for him.

– It’s not like you’re a strange Trump guy or something, right? McKinnon asked, causing Brady to leave the stage quickly while thanking the ‘host’ for welcoming him.
