‘SNL’ mocks Cuomo, but does not mention the nursing home scandal

“Saturday Night Live” stole the appearance of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and the plans to reopen – but did not mention the death scandal at the asylum.

Weekend Update host Michael Che compared Cuomo to the surly bar owner of The Simpsons Moe Szyslak, while explaining that New York has expanded its eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine to include people with underlying diseases.

“New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is a real-life model for Moe Szyslak, has announced that more New Yorkers will be eligible for the COVID vaccine starting next week,” said Che.

“New Yorkers will have to provide documentation of their condition and answer medical questions like, ‘What’s wrong with you?'” He continued.

Che’s co-host Colin Jost then stepped in to mention Cuomo’s plan to reopen sports stadiums for fans.

“Gov. Cuomo also announced that it would allow sports facilities to open from 23 February, but would limit them to 10 percent of capacity – better known as jet level, ”said Jost.

However, it did not go unnoticed that the segment ignored the condemnatory admission that its office covered thousands of deaths in COVID-19 nursing homes.

“Nice that @nbcsnl had 2 bits in #Cuomo in #WeekendUpdate, but didn’t mention that Cuomo was exposed for sending the elderly to die of #COVID in #nursinghomes,” wrote a Twitter user. “Wow. What an * easy * joke to lay-up for #SNL, yet ..”

Other added, “Typical snl bias. No mention of Cuomo killed thousands. You could have done a number on it, but you didn’t. They really are cowards. “

The Post revealed that Cuomo’s chief aide, Melissa DeRosa, admitted to lawmakers on Thursday that her boss hid data on the number of coronavirus deaths among nursing home residents to avoid having to share them with the federal government.
