That’s how NBC’s variety show opened on Saturday night, with cast member Kate McKinnon presenting a show that asked what still works in America. The first category was “government”.
“Our first topic is government and I already have my doubts,” said McKinnon.
Greene, who was played by Cecily Strong, appeared and immediately offered McKinnon a weapon.
“So, Congresswoman Greene … it’s hard to say those words together,” said McKinnon. “What are some of the theories you believe in?”
Strong’s Greene replied, “How much time do you have?”
After hearing some of Greene’s theories, McKinnon asked if she really believed in these things and then asked if she really a representative from the USA.
“Can people search for you on Google and will that say that she is a true member of the U.S. government?” McKinnon asked again.
“This may not be the first thing that comes up, but it does,” replied Greene de Strong.
Boner, who was played by Pete Davidson, corrected McKinnon saying, “First of all, it is pronounced ‘stonk’ market.”
McKinnon then asked Boner of Davidson if the company’s crazy week reflects GameStop’s business.
“Uh, do we sell games?” Davidson’s Boner asked.
McKinnon came to the conclusion that the stock market doesn’t work either.
After going through topics like social media and the launch of the Covid-19 vaccine (both of which are also not working, according to McKinnon), “SNL” has finally found something that works in America: Tom Brady.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, who is returning to the Super Bowl with his new team, appeared on the show played by this week’s host, John Krasinski.
“You should win football games and keep winning football games,” said McKinnon. “You may be the only thing in America that still works … So I think everyone must be rooting for you, right?”
“Hardly anyone,” replied Brady de Krasinski.
McKinnon said she would be rooting for him because the country can still count on him and “it’s not like you’re a strange Trump guy or something, right?”
Brady from Krasinski immediately thanked McKinnon for welcoming him and left the stage.
McKinnon ended the segment by saying that she is slowly losing her mind, and then shouted the show’s catchphrase, “Live … From New York! It’s Saturday night!”
