‘Schitt’s Creek’ creator and star Dan Levy presents this week, with Phoebe Bridgers as a musical guest.

The Super Bowl pranks and the flood of commercials that accompany the big game were highlighted Saturday Night LiveFebruary 6 open cold.

Kenan Thompson, who played sports broadcaster James Brown in the sketch, mentioned the difficult times experienced by many today due to the new coronavirus pandemic, but noted “we come together in the spirit of football – and to kill millions of chickens for their delicious wings.”

Thompson’s Brown, along with Chris Redd’s Nate Burleson, Mikey Day’s Phil Sims and Beck Bennett’s Boomer Esiason, discovered how the NFL itself has progressed in games in dealing with the new COVID-19 health and safety protocols, but “overcame 700 cases. “

The group then turned its attention to the plethora of commercials that will try to advertise products and address racial injustice in America and the availability of vaccines, like a Cheez-It ad saying its cookies are “historically delicious” or Budweiser reminding people to buy “a second dose” of Bud Light.

Aidy Bryant also appeared for the open cold, playing against Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid and Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians. Her SNL the cast members provoked her dual role situation by making her switch quickly between Reid and Aryans while discussing each team’s strategy for Sunday – which turned out to be quite similar.

Schitt’s Creek creator and star Dan Levy was this week’s host and was accompanied by musical guest Phoebe Bridgers.

In his opening monologue, Levy joked that one benefit of the pandemic was that people finally got a chance to watch his comedy series that ended up winning nine Emmys. An unfortunate side effect though Schitt’s CreekThe popularity of strangers is stopping to say David Rose’s iconic “ew” line to Levy.

Levy then took a little tour of SNLfrom Studio 8H, but was prevented from getting too close to the public and even doors a few times by the security of Doreen Studio, played by Aidy Bryant. As the actor roamed the set, he soon found his father, Eugene Levy, totally protected from any pandemic problem by being in a glass box and surrounded by people in anti-danger suits.

Levy’s first evening draft included a caffeine-excess tour guide at Universal’s theme park, offering scandalous stories and suggestions to tram passengers. Another sketch of the evening scoffed at a beloved pandemic from the past – checking the list of homes on Zillow.com. Parodied as a sensual advertisement, Levy and others SNL cast members joked about how “the housing market is your sex now”.

Accompanying the comedy COVID-19 (because almost a year after the pandemic started, that’s one thing now), another sketch of the night scoffed at a group of friends saying that they are “doing everything right” to stay safe during the pandemic – with a few exceptions, of course, like staying on a wrestling team, flying around the world on business or having an extensively large pandemic pod. When the group of friends started eating some pepper, everyone realized that they could not taste or smell it – symptoms of COVID-19.

The sketch ended up being a Super Bowl commercial with Dr. Fauci, played by Kate McKinnon, explaining how getting together to watch the big game is the antithesis of what people should be doing this weekend.

For the Weekend Update, Colin Jost and Michael Che attacked the controversial Republican Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene and Donald Trump. The House of Representatives voted to expel Greene, who Che said “looked like a photo of a former child star”, from two committees due to incendiary comments she made before she was elected last November.

Jost has surfaced as “ex-social media influencer” Donald Trump will not testify in his impeachment trial next week, which the Weekend Update co-host said was a shame because we deserve “one last show”.

Next weeks SNL The episode will feature Regina King as the show’s host and Nathaniel Rateliff as a musical guest.
