Saturday Night Live opened with a rough talk show where Britney Spears tried to get excuses from Ted Cruz, Andrew Cuomo and Gina Carano, each coming out of a week full of scandals.
“You all know me for my optimistic videos on Instagram and the word ‘guardianship’. Basically, I started this show ‘Oops, You Did It Again’ so that people could come and apologize for things they did wrong, ”said Spears of Chloe Fineman. “Because after the documentary ‘Free Britney’ was released, I am getting hundreds of excuses a day.”
The singer then welcomed this week’s trio of journalists on her talk show, starting with Cruz (Aidy Bryant, reprising the role at last week’s cold opening). The Texas senator took the stage holding a Pina Colada and newly arrived luggage from a brief trip to Cancún, where he escaped the devastating winter conditions that affected his voters.
“So Ted, Texas, is going through a major crisis, it seems now,” said Spears. “And you literally abandoned him and flew to Cancún for a family [vacation]. “
“And now I’m in a little bit of danger, which apparently is something that no one in Texas has,” said Cruz de Bryant, who then apologized to the Texans. “I deeply regret my actions in the last few days … especially flying with United.”
The next to apologize was New York Governor Cuomo (Pete Davidson), currently involved in an investigation into the death toll in the state’s nursing homes.
“Some of the people who died in nursing homes were not counted as deaths in nursing homes, they were counted as deaths in hospitals,” said the governor. “Which is basically what happens at Disney World, okay? People die and move bodies. They say, ‘Oh, I think Brenda died in the parking lot, not in the cups of tea.’ So we just did the Disney thing. “
After a brief pause to read the fan questions – “Are you okay?” to which she responded with a subliminal #FreeBritney – the last guest, now ex- Mandalorian actress Carano (Cicely Strong) joined Spears, but refused to apologize.
“I’m here for the opposite of that. I didn’t do anything wrong. No one can even explain what I did wrong. Explain! “Said the actress.
“Okay, on Instagram you said that conservatives have as bad a life as people living in Nazi Germany,” said Spears.
“Congratulations, you explained it to me,” said Carano, from Strong. “Look, I would never have made that comparison with the Nazi if I knew that everyone would be so Nazi about it.”
