Snapdragon 775 apparently configured to take the performance of intermediate Android phones to a new level

In September 2020, it was reported that Qualcomm would launch the Snapdragon 775G in early 2021. Alleged the benchmark results indicated that the chip would be as good as last year’s Snapdragon 865. XDA Developers now there’s more on SoC, courtesy of a telegram channel.

The top-level chip is likely to succeed Snapdragon 765G that powers companies like Google Pixel 5, OnePlus Nord and LG Velvet. It is expected to bring much more to the table than the Snapdragon 768G, which is an overclocked version of the 765G.

According to an apparently legitimate internal document, the Snapdragon 775 (SM7350) will be built on the same 5 nm process as the main Snapdragon 888. Needless to say, this would result in huge performance and efficiency gains over the Snapdragon 765G, as it is based on 7nm technology.

Other specifications that the document revealed include a Kryo series 6 CPU core arrangement and compatibility with LPDDR5 RAM at 3200 MHz or LPDDR4X RAM at 2400 MHz and UFS 3.1 storage. It also says that the chip will have the ISP Spectra 570, which would allow simultaneous support for three 28MP cameras and would enable 4K 60fps video recording. SoC also supports Wi-Fi 6E.

This is not the most up-to-date version of the document and the actual specifications may differ slightly. Still, as XDA Developers independently verified its authenticity, the Snapdragon 775 is almost certainly a 5 nm chip. This increases the likelihood of bringing high-level performance to 5G-ready middlemen. Xiaomi may be one of the first manufacturers to use the new chip.
