Smash Bros. credits. Melee finally completed after 20 years, after $ 3k reward offer • Eurogamer.net

20 years later, someone finally completed the final credits for Super Smash Bros. Melee. (No, they are not that long.)

For those unfamiliar with Nintendo’s classic brawler, Melee’s credits are presented as a light pistol-style shooting experience. Points are awarded for the number of names hit, with 190 targets hit in total.

So far, no one has been successfully registered shooting all 190 names and logos – but recently there was a race to be the first, after Smash fan Nathaniel Bandy offered a $ 3000 reward to encourage someone to finally complete the challenge.

As reported by Polygon, the challenge has now been completed. Melee superfan Martin Zarate spent 50 hours practicing for the feat after seeing the money at stake.

Here is a recording of his world record, along with video evidence of him performing the feat on a GameCube pad. Some of the names require split-second reactions and it is only when the final total of 190 appears on the screen that Zarate reacts, knowing that his legacy – and $ 3,000 – is secure.

A student, Zarate says the money will be spent on his tuition fees as he works to become a national park ranger.
