Smart marijuana vapor device allows users to customize doses via app

The smart marijuana vapor device promises the ‘perfect effect’ by allowing users to personalize doses via an app and notify them via vibrations when to stop inhaling

  • Mode presented its flagship product at the Consumer Electronics Show
  • It is an intelligent cannabis dosing system to help regulate cannabis intake
  • The vaporizer has sensors to determine how many doses are being inhaled
  • There is also a companion app that allows users to view consumption analysis

Marijuana has become a mandatory treatment for anxiety, pain control and sleep, but a new innovation is taking the guesswork out of dosing for new users.

Called Mode, the world’s first smart cannabis dosing device took the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show, along with a companion app.

The vaporizer device has a touch slider that allows users to adjust the dose down to the milligram and is equipped with precision sensors to determine how much is being inhaled.

It also has a tactile guidance feature that gently vibrates to notify users when to stop inhaling and when to exhale.

The complementary application features a control panel where users can access dosing plans, product information, feedback, personalized recommendations and consumption analysis.

Medical marijuana is legal in 34 U.S. states and is used to treat a variety of illnesses and diseases like Alzheimer’s, cancer and Chrohn’s disease.

It has also become a treatment for those suffering from anxiety and sleep disorders.

However, for a new smoker, determining how much to inhale can be tricky.

Izzy Kirsh, co-founder and co-CEO of Mode, said: ‘Initially, we decided to resolve the dosage dilemma for people who need cannabis to treat injuries, illnesses and other health-related issues.’

“We built dozens of prototypes to deliver steam doses per milligram, perfecting consumption levels until a rudimentary science of which cannabinoids and dosages are needed to achieve the right results.

“What we finally created is a pioneering device that offers more control and a better experience for all cannabis users.”

The company debuted its flagship product at the first all-digital Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

The popular technology conference is usually held in Las Vegas, Nevada, but the coronavirus forced it to leave the conference site and enter people’s homes.

But the change did not stop companies from presenting their biggest and most recent innovations.

The mode was inspired by Kirsh, who realized the need for a personalized dosage of cannabis after a personal injury.

He partnered with Mark (Akiva) Wagner and Stephen Bates to design the platform and the trio embarked on a comprehensive R&D exploration, collaborating with a world-class design and engineering team and raising $ 2.5 million in funds to launch Mode on the market.

The mode sells for $ 100 and is available for pre-order on its website and shipping will begin in the first half of 2021

Owners can also lock the vaporization device to keep it safe from children.

Mark (Akiva) Wagner co-founder and co-CEO, Mode, said: ‘Cannabis is a dosage sensitive substance and not a one-size-fits-all solution.’

‘Mode offers a missing device and data set for the cannabis space and, with the right analysis and implementation, can open paths of understanding never before seen in cannabis.’
