Slow broad receiver market may benefit Raiders

The position group that moved more slowly in the first two days of the legal breach period was the broad receiver.

Very few recipients of this strong class of free agent have yet secured business. One is Nelson Agholor, who is leaving the Las Vegas Raiders to sign with the New England Patriots. Agholor agreed to a two-year, $ 26 million deal on Monday.

The now ex-Raider has received more than expected and this may be slowing down the market. The next strong receiver draft class also does not help this free agent market.

The depressed market may help Raiders, however.

They are looking for a wide receiver and have been connected to Pittsburgh Steelers free agent JuJu Smith-Schuster and AJ Green of Cincinnati Bengals. The only other team Smith-Schuster has connected with is the New York Jets, but they are hiring Corey Davis of Tennessee Titans.

Smith-Schuster could come with a reduced price. Detroit Lions’ Kenny Golladay is also there. At some point, this receiving class will move, but if the Raiders are patient, they can get a top player in position for a bargain price.

This is worth monitoring.
