SLO County reports 57 new COVID-19 cases, plus 7 deaths

San Luis Obispo County health officials reported 57 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the county total to 19,340 confirmed cases on February 19.

The county also added seven new COVID-19-related deaths. To date, SLO County has recorded 217 deaths attributed to the virus.

Health officials say 22 people are hospitalized. Another 684 are recovering at home and health officials say 18,395 people have recovered.

Seventeen of the 38 licensed and staffed ICU beds in the municipality are currently occupied. Nine of them are taken by COVID-19 patients.

The locations of 64 additional cases are under investigation and eight others are listed as “others”, which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health is not identifying these locations.

The testing sites of the COVID-19 community are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
