SLO County reports 51 new cases of COVID-19, plus 3 deaths

San Luis Obispo County public health officials reported 51 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the county total to 20,017 confirmed cases on March 11.

The county also added three additional COVID-19-related deaths. To date, SLO County has recorded 251 deaths attributed to the virus.

Health officials say 11 people are hospitalized. Another 309 are recovering at home and authorities say 19,443 people have recovered.

Twenty of the 38 licensed and staffed ICU beds in the municipality are currently occupied. One is taken by a COVID-19 patient.

The locations of 22 additional cases are under investigation and another 10 are listed as “others”, which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health is not identifying these locations.

The testing sites of the COVID-19 community are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.

VACCINATIONS

San Luis Obispo County has opened the vaccine eligibility for the following groups:

  • People 65 years of age or older
  • Anyone aged 16 to 64 who is at a higher risk of contracting serious COVID-19 illnesses or dying from serious health conditions
  • Childcare and education workers
  • Emergency service workers
  • Food and agriculture workers
  • Health workers and community health workers
  • Residents and employees of long-term care institutions
