SLO Co. teachers eligible for covid-19 vaccine starting next week

Vaccinations will be open to more county residents starting next week.

Earlier this week, Governor Gavin Newsom announced a new plan that would reserve 10 percent of all vaccination doses for educators.

During a press conference this afternoon, county director of public health, Dr. Penny Borenstein, said that teachers and childcare providers could be vaccinated starting next week, but she warned that limited doses are still available.

“Therefore, our child care providers and our kindergarten through 12th grade school, staff and teachers who provide face-to-face services will have access from next week to a number of consultations that we are honoring our 10 percent allocation for. will go to that sector, ”Dr. Penny Borenstein, public health agent in San Luis Obispo County.

Borenstein says the county will prioritize agricultural and police workers next, as they can open more than the current level.

People aged 65 and over, as well as health professionals, can also continue to be vaccinated.
