David Scott Reichert, 67, of Pottsville passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Lehigh High Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.

Born in Pottsville on March 23, 1953, he was the son of the late Lamar C. and Dorothy Malinda (Coleman) Reichert.

He graduated from Pottsville Area High School (1971) and Penn State University (1975) with great distinction. Before retiring, he was hired by Berks County IU # 14, Schuylkill County IU # 29 and Creature Feature as a presenter.

Coach Reichert liked to coach baseball, basketball and softball for local teams. He was the basketball coach for the Pottsville Boys League Elementary and Middle School Division, St. Pats, St. Johns, Mary Queen of Peace, Nativity Freshmen, Pottsville Area JV Freshman and Junior High, Girls 8th grade Pottsville Area, Anthracite Action. He was also the coordinator of Hoopfest and Pottsville Recreation. He was also very involved with baseball, coaching Pottsville Rotary LL for 30 years, manager and coach of Yuengling, league president and chief referee, Minor League Commissioner, founded by Pottsville Pythons, Cooperstown Dreams Park and Pottsville Area Travel Team JV Softball Coach.

He received the Excellence in Education award, Annie Sullivan, from Warner Cable, presented by UI # 29.

Scott was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and liked eBay and live auctions. He was a member of Yorkville Hose Co. 1 and PSEA-NEA Educational Associations. He was also an avid animal lover, he especially loved his dogs.

He leaves his beloved 38-year-old wife, Patricia Lynn (Frank) Reichert; children, Brandon, husband Zachary of Courtney Paige, husband Travis of Kory; daughter, Shannon, wife of Jason Mollick; grandchildren, Trevor, Alisha, Jayden, Elliot Jack Reichert; sister, Janie Hughes.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 pm to 9 pm on Friday, March 12 at Pottsville Zone, 337 Peacock St., Pottsville. Family and friends can call on Thursday, March 11, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville. Theresa Mary Czaplicki, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died on March 6, 2021 at the age of 70.

She left her 49-year-old husband, Matthew W. Czaplicki, his son Matthew, his daughter Theresa and his six grandchildren.

Joseph J. Kovalewski, Jr, 71, de Frackville died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 3

Born in Shenandoah, on August 31, 1949, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Irene T. Lukasik Kovalewski, Sr. He graduated from Shenandoah High School, class of 1967.

Joseph worked as a shipping and receiving manager for Eureka Saw Company, MT. Carmel; later, he was a salesman for the Rinaldi Chevrolet dealership, Shenandoah; and retired as a delivery driver for former S&Y Paints, Pottsville.

Joseph played the accordion and was a member of the Cruisers Polka Band for 30 years, traveling to many venues across the area entertaining the crowd at many festivals, church picnics and local pubs.

He was a former member of the Lions Club and a member of the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Santa Maria, Ringtown.

He leaves his wife Joann Felegi Kovalewski, Frackville; one daughter; Janette Ortman and her husband Arthur, Millville; 2 grandchildren; Arthur E. Ortman, II and his wife Laura, Jacksonville, NC and Ambreelinne Nascimento and her husband Nathan, Milton; two brothers; Stephen and his wife Pam, Dillsburg and Michael Kovalewski, Ringtown; nieces and nephews.

Barbara A. Deem, 83, from Zion Stone Church Road New Ringgold, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at home, while in the care of her daughter Laurie Dolinsky and her husband Dave.

She was born on Friday, September 17, 1937 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to the late John Saunders and Nolie (Mills) Saunders. She was also killed by her 49-year-old husband Francis D. Deem on September 11, 2004

A graduate of Tamaqua High School, Barbara had worked at the former New Ringgold Mills for many years and had worked as a waitress in many local restaurants. Barbara also helped her husband in the operation of his business, BA Deems Excavation.

A member of the New Ringgold Zion Stone Church, Barbara enjoyed her weekly pinochle games and trips to the casino. She and Francie spent many days on their Moto Guzzi motorcycle tour.

Charles S. “Charlie” Promensky, 73, of Williamstown, died suddenly on Monday, March 8, 2021 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Born in Harrisburg, on December 1, 1947, son of the late Sylvester and Zora Kriner Promensky.

Charlie graduated from former Williamstown High School. He was a retired TYCO ED technician, Lickdale. Charlie was also the janitor at Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown, for many years.

He belonged to many organizations in Williamstown. He liked to hunt, fish and spend the winter months in South Carolina, where he walked daily on the beach. He was a big fan of Penn State Football.

Surviving are his son, of whom he was very proud, Charles “Chuck” Promensky, Tower City; his companion for more than 25 years, Bonnie Wiest Laudenslanger; Myrtle Beach, SC. He also left Bonnie’s children, Tracey, Scott, Chrissy, Jon and Heather and their children, whom Charlie considered his grandchildren.
