What. A game.
Tonight, the Sixers escaped with a 107-106 victory over defending champions Los Angeles Lakers.
Entering the game, the Sixers was 9-0 with its full starting team intact (as it was tonight). The Lakers also won 10-0 away from home. Now they are 10-1.
Joel Embiid got off to a hot start, scoring 13 of his 28 points in the first quarter. In the third quarter, Embiid suffered a scary blow after being thrown into the air by LeBron James (34 points) and falling on his back. He stayed in the game and played the entire third quarter. He ended the night with 28 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks. He hit 11 of his 13 free throws.
Ben Simmons has been aggressive, offensively, since the jump. He attacked the basket over and over again on his way to 17 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and just one turn. This is the Ben Simmons that the Six must show up for every night. Bravo, Ben.
Danny Green had a solid game, totaling 14 points in four 3s.
Things were going very well for the Sixers in the fourth period, until they sustained a horrible 22-5 streak at the Lakers, which started around the 4 minute mark. LA took the lead on Anthony Davis’s tray with 11 seconds left.
Our hero enters.
With two seconds remaining, Tobias Harris scored an extremely efficient game at both ends, gaining enough space to hoist a jumper over Alex Caruso of the Lakers. Splash.
Sixers win. If only fans were present tonight.
The next step for the Sixers: on the road in Minnesota on Friday.
