Sixers sans-Joel Embiid is defeated by Memphis on the second consecutive night

Tonight, the Sixers lost to the Memphis Grizzlies at home, by 116-100.

It was a case of indifference since the initial tip to Philadelphia. For much of the first half, the team’s defense kept the game relatively close. The defense broke free in the third, however, earning 45 points for the Grizzlies in that period, as the attack continued to fail.

Joel Embiid was removed from the game in an effort to be wary of the big man, who returned from a three-week (knee) absence on Saturday. Mike Scott started in his place.

Ben Simmons once again struggled, scoring just seven points in 26 minutes and failing to make a significant statement at either end of the court.

Tobias Harris made 21 points in 14 shots and eight rebounds in 20 minutes.

At the end of the cleanup time, we had a long run of “BBall” Paul Reed (who played really well – 10 points, six rebounds in 13 minutes), Isaiah Joe, Rayjon Tucker and Sixers premieres for Mason Jones and Ignas Brazdeikis.

Failing to capitalize on the opportunity to regain exclusive possession of number one seed at the Eastern Conference, the Sixers remain in a virtual draw with Brooklyn at the top of the standings.

This was the team’s third game in four nights. The Sixers will now have a day off on Monday, ahead of a meeting in Boston with the Celtics on Tuesday night.
