Sixers Bell Ringer: Philadelphia stumbles in defeat to Grizzlies

Sixers Bell Ringer season ranking:

Joel Embiid – 17
Tobias Harris – 11
Ben Simmons – 7
Milton Shake – 5
Matisse Thybulle – 2
Danny Green – 2
Tyrese Maxey – 2
Dakota Mathias – 1
Furkan Korkmaz – 1
Tony Bradley – 1

Having played the night before, the Sixers came on Sunday night with a rest disadvantage and without Joel Embiid, who was left out after returning from injury against Minnesota. In the first half, the Sixers executed the clogged toilet offense and fell behind by 10 points. In the third quarter, the clogged toilet started pouring sewage all over the place, and Memphis exploded by 45 points in the period. The Grizzlies led by up to 28 points, before the empty-the-bank team brought Philadelphia back to 13 in the fourth period, prompting Memphis to get the starters back into the game. Another moral victory! The Sixers finally fell, 116-100. Let’s go to Bell Ringer.

Tobias Harris: 21 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 2 turns

Tobi was the only starter to have a productive game on the offensive side, ending with 8 of 14 on the field and 5 of 6 on the foul line in just 27 minutes of action. In addition to his usual difficult turnaround jumpers and forays in full swing on the open court, Harris also made some sharp cuts to finish around Ben Simmons’ basket of feeds. If the rest of the rotation had worked, Closer would be ready to bring this one home.

Paul Reed: 10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 return

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at the Philadelphia 76ers

BBall Paul got some burns in the first quarter, dipping a Furkan Korkmaz plate just before the end of the period. It was his work in the fourth period that drew attention, however, as part of the third unit that lost a 20-5 run in Memphis. Reed was his usual energy ball, jumping overtakes and proving to jump over the rim protection, while launching even more slams, including a fierce reverse with one hand. The only downside was Doc Rivers saying that after the game Paul is not ready to see time as a little 5 ball. He is ready, doctor!

Isaiah Joe: 6 points, 2 assists, 0 turnovers

Joe showed his game-making skills in that bank battalion, winning a few trips to the charity strip and making a couple of smooth passes to bury Reed. Joe’s calling card has always been his external pitch, of course, so it was also nice to see him get out of a bit of DHO action with Reed at the top of the key to hit a 3. Secondary play creation, long-range dexterity, these are definitely skill sets that the Sixers can use most on the list.
