Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Phoebe Bridgers added to the accusations against rock star Marilyn Manson, saying that he once pointed to a “r * pe room” in her home, which she said she visited as a teenager.
Bridgers’ claim comes when Manson’s former partner, Evan Rachel Wood, accused him of abuse. Since then, other women have made similar claims.
“I went to Marilyn Manson’s house when I was a teenager with some friends”, Bridgers said on Twitter On thursday. “I was a big fan. He referred to a room in his house as ‘r * pe room’. I thought it was just his horrible frat boy sense of humor. I stopped being a fan.”
A Manson representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.
On Monday, “Westworld” actor Wood said on Instagram that Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, “started to prepare me when I was a teenager and terribly abused me for years”.
The couple started dating publicly when she was 19 and he was 36.
“I was brainwashed and manipulated to submit,” wrote Wood. “I’m tired of living in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail.”
Manson responded to Wood’s accusations on Instagram, saying: “My art and my life have long been controversial magnets, but these recent statements about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with partners with similar interests. how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth. “
Wood claimed that “many industries” made Manson possible.
On the day of her posting on Instagram, her label, Loma Vista, said she would stop promoting her latest album and discard future projects with Manson.
Wood testified about his experiences with domestic and sexual violence during a 2018 House Judicial Subcommittee hearing on the Sexual Violence Survivors Rights Act.
She told the subcommittee that she had been raped by an unidentified abusive partner.
Bridgers had previously talked about his own experiences with abuse.
In 2019, she was one of four women named by name in a New York Times article about the alleged abusive behavior of musician and producer Ryan Adams towards women. After spending time in a recording studio with Adams at age 20, she told the publication, they started a relationship that went dark when he sent countless text messages, insisted that she prove where she was, and pressured her for sex by telephone.
Bridgers said Adams had promised that she would perform as an opening act at her shows, but terminated after she broke up with him. Adams’ lawyer responded to Bridgers’ allegations by telling the Times that the pair had “a brief consensual adventure” and denied that Adams threatened to stop his label from releasing Bridgers’ songs.
