With Oregon facing Penei Sewell off the board in fourth place in the overall standings for Atlanta, we decided to go to Denver and ask about an exchange. We gave up on the fifth choice and took the ninth and the 40th selection in the process. The Broncos moved all-in at Trey Lance and we saw Ja’Marr Chase go sixth to Miami, Jaylen Waddle seventh to Detroit and DeVonta Smith eighth to Carolina.
This left Pitts in ninth place overall and, honestly, it could be classified as a robbery. Pitts is a rare, rare prospect, underestimated as a blocker and an absolute elite as a receiver. He would give the team the ability to cut CJ Uzomah to cap space and form a formidable double strike with Drew Sample.
