On Monday morning, Jerry Rice told 95.7 listeners of the game that he cannot imagine Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers looking to play for the San Francisco 49ers.

“Aaron won’t want to come here,” said Rice. “He doesn’t want to come here because the 49ers didn’t recruit him. He still has that grudge. He still has that on his shoulders.”

NFL Media’s Mike Silver wrote an intriguing article for NFL.com, analyzing the discontent that may be brewing in Green Bay between Rodgers and the Packers. After his second consecutive loss in the NFC Championship Game, the dismal quarterback seemed unsure about his future in the NFL, and whether that included a return to the Packers.

“[There are] many guys’ futures that are uncertain, “said Rodgers via Silver,” me included. That’s the saddest thing … to get this far. Obviously, there will be an end to this at some point, regardless of whether we go through this or not. Only the uncertainties, (that) is difficult, and the purpose of that. “

Silver felt that Rodgers’ words could be seen as a message to the Packers: Your way of doing business has to change, or maybe I should be on my way.

The NFL analyst, who also joined 95.7 the game on Monday, does not necessarily agree with Rice’s perception of Rodgers’ attitude towards the 49ers – the team he grew up rooting for and hoped would recruit him in 2005.

“I don’t think he’s going to play for Mike Nolan (anytime soon)”, joked Silver during the Steiny, Guru and Dibs show, “… You blame Jed York for the decision to take Alex Smith, who by the way, Aaron Rodgers would agree that he’s a great guy, and we all love him, right? No, I think if you’re Aaron Rodgers, if you don’t he can play for the Packers – I think he wants to play for the Packers, who are less passive.

“If you can’t play for the Packers because all that matters is to sit free and wait to see who falls on them in the draft – unless they can negotiate to take your successor, by the way – then I think you he wants to play for a killer who will make the most of his skill and load everything to try to win.

“Do you think Kyle Shanahan and that organization fit into this project? I think. It’s the same offense that he’s doing and that he’s about to win MVP, with Matt LaFleur. They’re sure to spend money and be aggressive, and Kyle will probably , with Aaron Rodgers, may be the scariest thing some of us have ever seen, in the opinion of many people.

“So yes, if I’m Aaron Rodgers and I decide that I don’t want to play for the Packers, I want to play for a killer whose owner wants to be close to me. It looks like the Niners should be on that list.”

The San Francisco 49ers could go in several directions with the position of defender in this off-season. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch could have Jimmy Garoppolo, which they indicated they would do. But that was before the friction developed between Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans. It was before Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions agreed to part ways. It was before Aaron Rodgers sounded like he was questioning his future with the Green Bay Packers. Will the 49ers contemplate moving forward

It’s the off season. So why not speculate on what it might take for the San Francisco 49ers to get the disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson? A suggestion by former NFL player Ross Tucker, during an interview in 95.7 The Game, was a little wild for the taste of a 49ers wide receiver. Tucker mentioned the young 49ers passista star after being asked if anyone is untouchable in creating a package tempting enough to acquire Watson. “I would say it’s Nick Bosa, but if you get Deshaun Watson, I think even Bosa is playable,” said Tucker. “I’m sure they don’t want to do that, and I’m sure they would even rather give up on the choices, but as good as Nick is, if you have a chance to get one of the top five NFL defenders, you have to. So, I would say

The defensive backfield may look very different for the San Francisco 49ers next season. With almost 40 of its players scheduled to become free agents, the team has some difficult choices to make this off-season. This may include replacing Richard Sherman or Jason Verrett cornerbacks – or both. They are not the only cornerbacks scheduled to become free agents. K’Waun Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Dontae Johnson and Jamar Taylor are all set to test the open market. Emmanuel Moseley and Ken Webster are scheduled to be agents free of exclusive rights.
