Since its launch in November, the PlayStation 5 has delivered a series of games worthy of all that fervor to try (and usually fail) to buy one. The controller! The focus of the first party! Winner: Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Insomniac’s swinging sequence brought style, visual flair and a fun world to explore on the PS5 launch line. Miles’ signature powers are added to a refined and polished combat system. Accurate writing and great voice work tell a more focused story. The more Miles Morales we see from Spider man, more like a modern and inspired franchise. This game is no exception.
Astro’s Playroom
Is it a technical demonstration? A little. It’s short? Right. But we had an explosion with Astro’s Playroom from start to finish. More than any other game on any console launch line, it looked fundamentally new and next generation. It’s a journey of nostalgia for longtime PlayStation fans, but even new players can appreciate concentrated charm and polish.
Demon’s Souls
Players are better prepared to play and enjoy the rigorous combat Demon’s Souls than ever. So Bluepoint really didn’t have to do much! Either way, they did, and the result is a game with environments and enemies with aesthetics to match the grandeur of From Software’s original design. It is a showcase for hardware when you want one of them the most, and it also brings what has already been tested and approved souls gameplay balance.
