The ‘Dexter’ revival was very interesting.
Progress was made at Showtime Dexter revival as big cast news comes this week. We first learned that a Dexter revival was underway in October 2020. At the time, it was announced that Showtime would bring the series back for a 10-episode starring sequence Michael C. Hall set to return, reprising his role as Dexter Morgan, blood spatter analyst during the day, serial killer at night. The original series spanned eight seasons from 2006 to 2013, accumulating over 100 episodes during its cable show. The revival will be led by Marcos Siega, who will also act as an executive producer alongside Hall. Also returning to the revival is the showrunner Clyde Phillips.
Now, according to The Wrap, Clancy Brown was released on Dexter Rebirth. Brown is the only actor besides Hall who was announced for the new limited series. For The Wrap, Brown will play the show’s villain, Kurt Caldwell. Kurt is the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake, probably the new city where Dexter ended up in the years after faking his death at the end of season 8 and before embarking on a new career as a woodcutter.
Showtime’s character description for Kurt says that he “fulfilled the American dream by stopping driving big platforms, just like his father did, to now own several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by all – he he’s a real man of the people. If he’s protecting you, consider yourself blessed. But if you upset Kurt or hurt someone he likes, God help you.
O Dexter revival will not be a repeat of the end of season 8 (which is generally considered unsatisfactory by fans of the show), but it will bring us up to date on Dexter’s life and offer a second chance to end this story correctly. I couldn’t think of any better actor to play a villain than Brown, whose stature and deep voice lends to Brown’s ability to play imposing characters. Brown joins a long line of memorable actors who play opposite villains Dexteralso including Jimmy Smits, Colin Hanksand Edward James Olmos. Fans will undoubtedly be eager to see what Dexter The team is preparing Brown’s character to ensure that the revival is as exciting as possible.
