Should the Steelers play their players on Sunday?

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Pittsburgh Steelers have a decision to make when they face the Browns on Sunday afternoon. The Chiefs have seeded number 1 and the Steelers have AFC North and the home game for the opening playoff weekend. The only thing they should think about is sowing and how much does it matter?

Pittsburgh hasn’t had a real farewell week all season, and while it’s not like a goodbye week, letting a handful of newbies know you’re not going this week and giving them time to get their minds and bodies right may not be one bad thing. And, hey, there’s nothing wrong with keeping the guys healthy for the playoffs.

On the other hand, it may be good to maintain momentum in the second half of the Colts’ game, if possible. The playoffs are often about health and momentum and the Steelers could use another strong offensive display, even if they play only half, to maintain some momentum after a brutal December.

There may even be a part of the Steelers who likes the idea of doing what they can to keep the Browns out of the playoffs.

The Browns face what is essentially a victory or homecoming on Sunday against the Steelers. Mary Kay Cabot and I answered four questions about the Browns on Tuesday’s Orange and Brown Talk podcast.

  • Will the Browns face the Steelers?
  • Is this the best version of the Browns’ list as they get healthier?
  • Did something happen on Sunday that worried you?
  • Is this the biggest test for Kevin Stefanski as head coach?
