There is almost no chance that the Pittsburgh Steelers will work for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The cost is going to be very high. However, this does not mean that the Steelers cannot continue to trade with Houston to bring great joy to the Steeler Nation.
According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, part of the Texans’ liquidation could include perennial defensive All-Pro JJ Watt. With brothers TJ and Derek already on the Steelers list, it would be an impressive synergy if Pittsburgh could compete with JJ too.
But do the Steelers need it? The easy answer is clear. Despite being just a year younger than Cam Heyward, Watt is still playing great football and would be a great addition to the rotation of the Steelers defensive line with Heyward and Stephon Tuitt.
Unfortunately, switching to Watt this off-season is a luxury that Pittsburgh cannot afford. Between the fall in Watt’s salary cap and this year’s recruitment value, it’s hard to imagine the Steelers reaching out to any player.
