Should Gamecocks have accepted the bowl?

Did South Carolina football make the right decision by accepting a bowl shot?

Gamecocks learned earlier this week that they would be playing UAB at the Gasparilla Bowl 2020 this postseason, despite winning just two games a year, and ending the campaign in a six-game losing streak.

Although the team will certainly be given extra practice time, there are also doubts as to whether or not Gamecocks should play due to the limited number of players, especially on the defensive side of football.

South Carolina saw players drop out, some chose to prepare for the NFL Draft and dealt with injuries and youth in key positions.

So, did the team make the right move by accepting the bowl shot, or should they just have packed up and ended the tumultuous 2020 season? Let’s look both ways, examining the potential pros and cons of the postseason invitation.
