Shooting at Il Pastaio restaurant leaves one injured

A shooting at the Il Pastaio restaurant in Beverly Hills left a person injured on Thursday afternoon, police said.

A woman was shot during an attempted robbery and was being treated for non-fatal injuries, said Beverly Hills Police Department acting captain Max Subin.

The shooting was reported to the police at 2:09 pm. According to a police statement, three male suspects demanded ownership of another patron. One of the suspects opened fire, hitting the woman, and the three suspects fled on foot.

Several videos of the consequences were posted on the Citizen app. One of the users said she heard two shots and that it looked like the thief had tried to steal a patron’s watch. Images from the scene also showed the woman being carried on a stretcher by paramedics, with an apparent wound in her leg.

The woman was taken to a local hospital. A second victim was also injured and treated at the scene, according to the police statement.

The restaurant was insulated with police tape and there was a strong police reaction in the area. The police are still investigating.

The restaurant on Canon Drive is a popular meeting place for Hollywood celebrities, who are often photographed eating on the patio. It is also a favorite place for entertainment industry lunches, although most talent agency employees still work from home during the pandemic.

The 20-year-old restaurant is owned by Giacomino Drago, whose nine restaurants in the Los Angeles area also include Celestino and Drago.
