Oscar-winning actress Shirley MacLaine enjoyed a classic Martini with lunch while dining outdoors at Kristy’s Village Cafe in Malibu on Friday.

While pouring Old Hollywood glamor with his favorite drink, the 86-year-old star took his time sipping his cocktail while talking to his assistant.

MacLaine’s departure for the seaside restaurant comes just weeks after Los Angeles reopened its open-air restaurants amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As she liked the warm weather, MacLaine wore a light green sweater, a pair of oversized sunglasses and a white visor, which read: ‘Malibu’.

The former lead actress, who has won five Golden Globes throughout her legendary career, completed her outfit with brown moccasin slippers.

In November, she credited her discipline with the longevity of her career spanning more than six decades, stemming from her childhood ballet training.

‘Although I tell people the truth, I am not a diva. This comes from my ballet training at age 3, ‘she told Variety.

MacLaine continued: ‘I have to get back to this and just do a hard and honest job, with a little art, if you can get it together. I also stayed in business and never thought about giving up because I wanted to pay for a plane ticket to travel. ‘

After her surprise in 1954 as a replacement for Broadway’s The Pajama Game, Shirley made her film debut in The Trouble with Harry, where she met with director Alfred Hitchcock.

– He wouldn’t eat without me. I won 25 pounds in that movie and got a call from Frank Freeman, who was the head of Paramount at the time, and he said, ‘Should we just terminate your contract? Will you stop eating? ‘recalled MacLaine (born MacLean Beaty).

“We talked and he told me stories and he was sophisticatedly cynical. And I would think it was funny, and he would be happy that I understood … I was only 18 years old. I was happy to be in his company because he was so much fun and loved to test everyone’s receptivity to his cynicism. I realize that now. ‘

And although Noelle’s actress called Jack Lemmon ‘a great friend’ that she ‘adored’, she was not so enthusiastic about working with her twice director Billy Wilder (The Apartment, Irma la Douce).

“I liked him, but I wouldn’t put him in the lead for the liberation of women,” joked Shirley.

MacLaine was known as the only female Rat Packer, calling Dean Martin ‘spontaneously funny’ and Frank Sinatra ‘talented’.

“He was born with this, but he was lonely as a child and went to music as his best friend,” Warren Beatty’s older sister said of Sinatra.

The Emmy winner also revealed that she has three films planned – including Brad Furman’s People Not Places and Armand Kachigian’s Men of Granite – that have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shirley recently appeared in one of three episodes of Road Trip Elegies: Montreal to New York, by Grammy nominee Rufus Wainwright, which was released three months ago on Audible.
