Sherlock Holmes gets a supernatural touch with Netflix’s The Irregulars

Sherlock Holmes takes second place in this new Netflix series, where a group of street kids solve crimes for the master detective.

From creator Tom Bidwell (Sunken boat), The Irregulars follows a band of misfit street boys in Victorian London, hired by Dr. Watson to discover clues to Sherlock Holmes. It is a dream project for Bidwell, who told the BBC that he had been working on it for over 10 years and was inspired by the fact that Sherlock Holmes used a group of street kids to help him gather clues.

“What if Sherlock was a drug addict and a delinquent and the kids solved the whole case while he takes the credit?” he said.

The brief teaser shows a map of Victorian London, along with the gang of teenagers who are expected to crack the case. As for the case itself, it looks like a series of rather knotty (and tarot-inspired) murders with demonic influence.

The Irregulars hits Netflix on March 26.
