Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Shelby County Health Department has launched a waiting list for COVID-19 vaccines.
He noted that it would be similar to an air travel waiting list.
Vax Queue allows people to apply for extra doses of the vaccine, although the Department of Health must still follow the list of state priorities. At the moment, it is vaccinating health professionals, people aged 75 and over, rescuers and employees of the funeral industry.
People who sign up for the waiting list will be asked when they can reach a nearby test site, in addition to their age, work and concerns they have with underlying health problems.
The responses will help the Department of Health to follow the state’s list of priorities.
