Shawnee Co. launches research for Phase 2 individuals and organizations interested in vaccines

January 15, 2021 08:39 by NewsDesk

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Like other neighboring counties, the Shawnee County Health Department (SCHD) has launched an online survey for those interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. At the moment, it is specifically for those who have been identified as part of the Kansas Vaccination Plan – Phase 2. More information on who is eligible for the vaccine at specific stages can be found at www.kansasvaccine.gov

Individuals or organizations that meet the listed criteria and are interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine as part of Phase 2 are encouraged to complete the following research / interest form: http://bit.ly/ShawneeCoVaccineSurvey Additional details for vaccination deadlines and schedule will be communicated as more details on the administration of the Phase 2 vaccine are released and additional doses of the vaccine become available.

“We encourage all members of the community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them,” said Craig Barnes, Division Manager, Shawnee County Health Department. “We are working diligently to complete vaccinations for healthcare professionals and others as part of Phase 1, so that we can move quickly to Phase 2 individuals when we receive this guidance. Although the first doses of the vaccine have arrived, we must remain vigilant and continue to use our masks, wash our hands and keep a distance. ”

Administration of the SCHD vaccine for Phase 1 individuals is still underway, with 1,788 doses of the vaccine being administered as part of its collaboration with GraceMed. In accordance with the current KDHE guidance, we will complete the first phase before moving on to the additional phases. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine requires two doses, separated by 28 days. Individuals must receive both doses to be considered fully vaccinated. The current and future schedule is based on vaccine availability and can be modified based on vaccine delivery.

Questions about the COVID-19 vaccine can be sent to HAAdmin@snco.us.
