Senator Rick Scott, R-Fla., Blamed Joe Biden for the sudden and sharp rise in gas prices across the country, saying “Varney & Co.” on Wednesday that the president “is not thinking about the poor families of this country” with his energetic actions.
The Florida senator argued on Wednesday that Biden’s energy policies will lead to an “unbelievable increase in costs for poor families”.
Scott pointed to Biden’s energy actions, including canceling the Keystone XL pipeline project and temporarily suspending the issuance of oil and gas licenses on federal land and waters in a series of orders designed to combat climate change.
President Biden revoked the license for the 1,700-mile gas pipeline on his first day in office, ending a project that was expected to employ more than 11,000 Americans this year.
In comments made by Biden in January, before signing executive actions on combating climate change, the president pointed to “a fundamental platform” of his Build Back Better Recovery Plan, which he noted “is to build a modern and resilient climate infrastructure. and a clean energy future that will create millions of well-paid union jobs. ”
Speaking of “Varney & Co.” Scott asked, “If you are in this [the energy] industry do you want to invest more dollars when the president says he wants to get rid of you? “

On Wednesday, West Texas Intermediate crude, the US benchmark, lost 67 cents to $ 64.13 a barrel.
The recent recovery in the oil markets has pushed oil prices to their highest levels since near the start of the coronavirus pandemic, fueled by the recovery in gas demand and production cuts.
If current trends continue alongside higher oil prices, “drivers can expect incremental price increases – of at least nickel – at their local gas stations in March,” according to an AAA press release.
Gas prices have been rising at the pump in recent weeks, reaching a national average of $ 2.88 a gallon on Wednesday, which is 64 cents more than at the same time in 2020, according to the AAA.

“It’s an unbelievable cost increase for our poorest families and Joe Biden, his rhetoric, his actions are making it happen, so he needs to find that out,” he continued.
Scott said he “asked the White House what they will do about it”, but got no response.
A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to FOX Business’s request for comment.
Scott also argued on Wednesday that Democrats generally “want a big government”, warning that “they are trying to raise their taxes”.
