“Sharon is one of my favorite songwriters and I have been very lucky to collaborate with her many times over the years,” said Dessner in a press release. “Recording ‘A Crime’ with Justin, more than 10 years after we covered ‘Love More’ on MusicNOW with my brother Bryce – and thinking about all of our shared memories – was as if we were closing the circle. It is an honor to be able to pay tribute to Sharon and his incredible songs. We feel that the door should be about to fall off the hinges of this version and I think it sounds that way. “

epic ten was released digitally on April 16 and physically on June 11 via Ba Da Bing. Every Thursday before epic tenof the release, Van Etten will share the album’s next cover song.

Van Etten also announced epic Ten: the documentary and the concert that will benefit the Zebulon site in Los Angeles. The film, which opens on April 16 and 17, features Van Etten and his band performing epic entirely in Zebulon.

epic it represents a crossroads for me as an artist, ”said Van Etten in press materials. She continued:

From trainee to artist at Ba Da Bing, from solo folk singer playing with a band for the first time and starting touring shows where people showed up. I am amazed by the artists who wanted to participate in the celebration of my birthday and relaunch, from young inspiring musicians, to artists who put me under their protection, who I met on tour and artists that I admire since I was a teenager. Each of these artists continues to influence my writing and provide a sense of camaraderie during this new era of music sharing.
