Shane Waldron may be new to the Seattle Seahawks, but at least he will have a familiar face as part of his attack next season.

With the Seahawks signing former Los Angeles Rams tight end Gerald Everett last week, Waldron could bring a player to Seattle who already has experience in the offensive scheme he will try to implement.

“Gerald brings versatility to any offensive, so we are excited to be able to bring it here and really use it as a weapon that can move and do many different things within an offensive structure,” said Waldron, through John Boyle of the team’s website.

The Seahawks Offense suffered a lot from the lack of a consistent third option in the passing game, especially in the second half of last season. David Moore had tremendous success at first, but it was not a regular occurrence. Phillip Dorsett lost all year due to injuries to his feet. Greg Olsen also lost a good deal of time due to a foot injury. Josh Gordon was released to return from the suspension only to have it reinstated when he returned to the building in December. While DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett had productive years, the teams began to attack them more consistently, without a third piece to attack the cover properly.

Everett shared time with Tyler Higbee with the Rams at the tight end. Although he did not have surprising numbers during his four years with the Rams, Everett sometimes shone with outstanding plays. Waldron believes that his skill set will be beneficial to the Seahawks.

“He has aggressive hands and is always able to find a way to get open coverage as opposed to firm head-to-head coverage,” said Waldron. “So his ability, once the ball is in his hands, to make the first guy miss or break the first tackle, has been something he has always been able to show from college and down to the NFL level. So it is a great asset when it comes to your ability to aggressively attack the ball and then make something happen to it once it is in your hands. “

A former second-round pick in 2017, Everett had a career record of 41 receptions for 417 yards and a touchdown last year for Los Angeles.
