SF Giants swap Shaun Anderson for LaMonte Wade Jr.

Early Thursday morning, San Francisco Giants’ president of baseball operations, Farhan Zaidi, told the media that the team wanted to acquire a left-handed outfielder, but preferred to do so through trade rather than free agency.

And on Thursday night, they did just that, exchanging right-handed pitcher Shaun Anderson for the Minnesota Twins in exchange for LaMonte Wade Jr.

Wade has played in each of the last two MLB seasons and is a .211 / .336 / .347 hitter in 113 appearances. But it’s the Giants, so you can be sure that your walk-to-hit ratio is legit, and it is: Wade has walked 15 times in his career and hit 18 times. He was very strong at most of the lower levels, but he fought a little in AAA.

And so the Giants say goodbye to Anderson, who came with the exchange for Eduardo Núñez. In 46 games with the Giants – including 16 games – Anderson had an ERA of 5.17 and a FIP of 4.90, with 88 eliminations for 50 walks in 111.1 entries.

Good luck in Minny to Anderson, and welcome to the Giants, Wade.
