‘Sex and the City’ star Sarah Jessica Parker in Kim Cattrall

Sarah Jessica Parker answered the question that everyone Sex and the City Fans announced on Sunday that a new version of the show would open soon: How does she feel about the absence of actress Kim Cattrall, who played the bold and often hilarious Samantha Jones?

It happened right after SJP shared the teaser trailer for And so …, the new series that follows the characters, played by Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, now navigating life in their 50s. New York City scenes appeared alongside the voice of Parker’s character, sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw, as she said the series title, a phrase she used to say while working on her laptop. The original aired six seasons, from 1998 to 2004.

When a fan wrote in the comments that Parker and Cattrall “don’t like each other”, Parker made it clear that there is no animosity on her side.

“No. I don’t dislike her. I never said that. I would never do that,” Parker wrote. “Samantha is not [sic] part of this story. But she will always be part of us. It doesn’t matter where we are or what we do. “

After someone else commented, “I’m happy to see you back, but I’ll miss Kim / Samantha,” Parker replied that the cast feels the same way.

“We will, too,” wrote Parker. “We loved her so much.”

The SJP added, in response to a third fan who said he would miss Samantha: “She will always be there”.

Her comment to another person who asked about the reformulation of Samantha’s role was: “We have some new stories to tell”.

Although many were disappointed to hear official confirmation that Cattrall will not be part of the new show, it is not a surprise. Allegedly, Cattrall has been in conflict with Parker since they were in the original series, in part because Cattrall didn’t think she was being fairly compensated. She refused to participate in a third film, while dropping reports that she is a diva.

In October 2017, Cattrall told Piers Morgan that she and co-stars Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have always been strictly co-workers. “We were never friends,” said Cattrall. “We have been colleagues and, in a way, it is a very healthy place to be”.

During an appearance in Watch what happens live with Andy Cohen, Parker said he was “just heartbroken” by Cattrall’s comment.

“I found it very disturbing, because that’s not how I remember our experience,” said Parker in January 2018. “It’s sad, but I always think that what unites us is this unique experience. It was a professional experience, but it became personal because it was years and years of our lives, so I hope it eclipses everything that has been said recently. “

Although there is no release date yet, production in And so … is scheduled to start in late spring.
