Several Square Enix remakes of an IP are underway at Forever Entertainment

Having worked on remakes of the Panzer Dragoon franchise, Forever Entertainment is now entering into deals with Square Enix to work on new remakes.

Square Enix has a treasure trove of IP in its catalog that simply loses momentum as the company focuses its attention on larger fish. Final Fantasy certainly has the spotlight and it’s been nice to see a little love for the Mana series. However, the likes of Vagrant Story, Star Ocean, older Dragon Quest titles and others are just the basis of the developer and publisher’s story, mostly untouched. That may be shifting to an IP at Square Enix, as it partners with developer Forever Entertainment to work on a series of remakes for a franchise.

The deal between Square Enix and Forever Entertainment was announced in a legal document via Square Enix Japan, as reported by Gematsu on March 1, 2021. According to that document, it appears that Forever Entertainment is entering into an agreement with Square Enix to produce several remakes on one of Square Enix’s IPs. Forever Entertainment will create updated visuals for those games while working to keep the original gameplay and narratives intact.

Forever Entertainment can most recently be traced to its quality work on remakes of the Panzer Dragoon series. It will be interesting to see what IP Square Enix chose the Polish studio to redo next.

Forever Entertainment is building a name for itself in the remake department. He was in charge of recreating the Panzer Dragoon from the glory days of Sega Saturn and did very well if the reviews on Steam are true. It is also working on remake of Panzer Dragoon 2: Zwei at the time. Given the huge range of Square Enix IPs that not only includes the works collected from both separate efforts from Squaresoft and Enix, but also from companies like Eidos and other developers collected over the years, no one knows what Square Enix is on. working for Forever Entertainment.

That said, it looks like a worldwide marketing campaign is on its way to anything that Square Enix and Forever Entertainment have saved. Fingers crossed for Star Ocean or Ogre Tactics, even if they are from a distance. Stay tuned to Shacknews for updates and details as they become available.
