Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis., Said in “Fox News Primetime” on Monday that there was “nothing racial” about the recent comments he made about Capitol troublemakers and the Black Lives Matter.
Johnson was attacked last week after saying during a radio interview that although he was not afraid for his safety when Trump supporters invaded the United States Capitol on January 6, he “may have been a little concerned” if the crowd was associated with Black Lives Matter or Antifa.
Fox News Primetime host Maria Bartiromo asked Johnson to respond to criticism from the liberal “awakening crowd” who attacked the comment on social media.
“It is completely out of proportion,” replied the senator. “There is nothing racial about my comments. The left is happy to use the race card whenever it can. This is about riots and rebels and leftist activists and anarchists.”

The senator explained that he “was not talking about the people who actually broke into the Capitol and beat up police officers,” in his previous comment. “I condemned this, as well as I condemn, quite honestly, anyone who revolted in the riots caused by leftist activists in the summer too.
“I was talking about the vast majority of people I know who are Trump supporters who love law enforcement, support law enforcement, would never think of riots or break the law. And this is the vast majority of people who came here to Washington, DC, “he said.
Johnson argued in an interview with Milwaukee radio station WISN-AM on Monday that his comments could not be considered racist because several Black Lives Matter protesters are white.

“Do you remember those leftist activists, these protesters, that some of them turned into riots? Many of them are white, ”he said, according to the Associated Press. “So there is no racism involved in this.”
Johnson signaled earlier this month that he cannot seek re-election in 2022.
