Selected pepperoni hot pockets remembered because of glass, plastic complaints in the product

Nestlé Prepared Foods is calling back more than 762,000 pounds of Hot Pockets pepperoni after consumers complained about finding pieces of glass or plastic in the product. At least one instance resulted in a mild oral injury, according to a recall notice posted on the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service website.

The Kentucky-based company said it received four complaints involving products not ready for consumption, which were produced from November 13, 2020 to November 16, 2020. The product has a shelf life of 14 months.

As a result, the company is recalling all 54 ounces. carton packs containing 12 “SANDWICHES FROM THE BRAND Nestlé HOT POCKETS: PREMIUM PEPPERONI MADE WITH PIG, CHICKEN AND BEEF PIZZA GARLIC BUTTER CRUST” with the date “BEST BEFORE FEB 2022” and lot codes 0318544624. 0319544614, 0320544614 and 0315544614 and 015.

The product was distributed to retailers in the United States and Puerto Rico.

On the company’s website, a recall notice noted that other product variations, including those that are packaged in two, five and 17 count varieties, are not affected by the recall.

The company did not specify what may have happened during production to result in the contamination.

Anyone who discovers the recalled product in your freezer must either throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. Those with additional questions are instructed to contact customer service at (800) 350-5016.
